[i]amanuensis1: Comic update and an arrrgh.

*smacks head*

Good news: Starfighter has been updated!

Bad news: I FORGOT ABOUT IT WHEN YULETIDE NOMS CAME AROUND. And it didn't make the list from anyone else either. Arrrgh.

[i]florahart: Star Trek Big Bang Fic: Diamonds, a Club, and a Couple of Hearts

Title: Diamonds, a Club, and a Couple of Hearts
Author: Flora ([info]florahart)
Artist/Mixer: [info]elanorofcastile
Beta(s): Several people have read bits and parts; [info]lauriegilbert has been the most involved culler of commas and shortener of sentences (half of which I defied her about anyway).
Series: Reboot/ST XI
Characters/Pairings: primary pairing is Kirk/McCoy; however, there is a Kirk/Gaila scene and Spock/Uhura and Pike/Number One are referenced.
Rating: NC17
Warnings: mostly just smut (het and slash), AU.
Word Count: ~23,500
Summary: Jim Kirk is a hotshot new shortstop in the Constitution League. His team is young, but they have a lot of potential, and oh by the way, the team doctor? Is hot.
Notes: Written for [info]startrekbigbang. Baseball AU in which all the characters are human, and the setting is some nonspecific time between now and 2258. Lots of nods to various baseball movies mashed up with lots of moments from/rearrangements of ST XI. Lots of other nods to things from the Trek canon (of any timeframe/reality) and para-canon, such as character names and backgrounds. Concept is [info]inell's fault.

pet peeve of the day:

it's spelled PER SE. It means by, in, or of itself : as such : intrinsically. not PER SAY, which is just WRONG. If you don't know how to spell it, DON'T USE IT. Because spell check is not going to pick that one up.

Whew. I feel better now.

[i]eeyore9990: Speaking of voting...

I am utterly disappointed in all of you. Well. All but thirteen of you!

Thirteen is a good number, but fifteen beats it. Why is that significant? Because fifteen of you voted to allow [info]lilyseyes to beat me in my utterly fair and balanced poll.

But fear not, my brave thirteen! [info]leela_cat wrote us a fic ANYWAY! Because we are obviously awesome. *nod nod*

Deathfic! Yay!!!

Go forth, ye fabulous ones, and read There Had Been a Plan.

[i]paukenfrau posting in [i]pornish_pixies: LONG(ish?): One Dark and Stormy Evening (Al/Scorpius, NC-17)

Title: One Dark And Stormy Evening
Pairing: Al/Scorpius
Rating: NC-17 for language, graphic sex
Word Count: about 2,050
Summary: Al and Scorpius drink Polyjuice to look like their dads; hilarity and fucking ensue.
Warnings: They're both 17 and acting their age.  Does teenage stupidity need a warning?
Disclosure Statement: two large bags of Chili Cheese Fritos and a nice bottle of Riesling were killed in the making of this fic.
Notes and thanks: Happy belated birthday, Jana!  I tried to combine your present with this month's drunken fanfic challenge -- hence the title, stolen from the prompt -- but didn't get off my arse in time to post it there, so it morphed into something even stranger.  Hope you enjoy it.  :D

ETA: Jana got the bunny for this fic from [info]bryoneybrynn 's hilarious work of staggering genius, Another...and Another...and, Fuck It, Just Leave Me the Bottle.  It's 1,200 words of sheer brilliance.

Damn, I totally didn't realize that the parade tomorrow is going to fuck with my commute (or my walk to the office after the subway, anyway). Maybe I will sneak out of work and try to see some of it. I did in 1996, when I worked down on Wall St. (I mean, I literally worked in a building on Wall St., not that I worked in the financial industry at that time.) and it was kind of awesome, even though they are not my team. Hmm...

Last night, I dreamt that two fangirls had moved into my bedroom in my parents house, while I was trying to live in it, and they were moving my stuff around and taking over my space and I was an unhappy camper, and my parents were like, "but we were just trying to help!"

I don't even know what to do with that. I just know that I woke up disgruntled and er, have remained so. My gruntle has been dissed. Or something.

***

I'm not a Yankees fan, but I thought they were kind of adorable last night. And I really don't like the Phillies, though I think they are a really good team, so I can't be too upset with the outcome.

New show tonight! YAY! I am looking forward to this one a lot. Plus, new Bones, too!

Ah, tv, never leave me!

[i]heather11483: and time stopped moving

+ Thanks to everyone who left me birthday wishes yesterday! Tweets, PMs, emails, v-gifts, facebook wall thingies, LJ posts and comments - I really rather love you guys. ♥♥♥♥ And I had a great day, btw. :D

+ [info - livejournal.com] miakun wrote me happy Merls fic what has Gwen/Morgana and OT4 at the same time! Go looky!

+ Yuletide signups! I'm excited but a little freaked out by them. I have the fandoms I nominated, but there are so many more to choose from and I don't know where to start! I'm going to think on it a bit more before I sign up for reals.

+ That's all for today. I have to give a presentation tomorrow at work, but I only have half a day to work on it because we all have to go to this award ceremony/holiday party/contract renewal celebration thing. Free food and the possibility of heading home early, always good.

[i]awaywithpixies: POTD and stuff

Well this is one of the perks that I appreciate about this job. The money might not be as spectacular as previous job, but I do get flexi time, toil and something called leave-loading on my holiday pay :D

So since I've worked more than my obligatory 7.36 hours a day for a while, I can flex off a day in lieu. It's great. So today I finished my assignment (another due in 3 weeks, and then no more until semester starts in March next year :D ), then I went to Aqua aerobics. Soooooo good in all this heat, and the touch of vitamin D on my skin is great (even after all that 30+ sunblock).

The Time Traveler's Wife opened today, and the worst part of the film was being forced to watch the New Moon trailer. Like that didn't give away much plot. I gave up on that franchise about a third of the way through that book, but gee, I can't see how people think any of those actors are worthy of anything other than a cringeworthy acting award. There is some crazy loon on LJ who is apparently trying to get that girl an oscar nomination because this is her best work. If this is her best work, I'd hate to see her worst, because seriously... awful.

Then again, I guess they don't have much to work with to start with.

But Time Traveler's Wife. That was a raging disappointment, as I had been forewarned. Eric Bana needs to stop pretending to be an American, and get back to his Aussie roots. His accent is awful, and as the women behind me kept saying, he just needed a shave. Still, it had chick flick points - a tissue was used.

Still on even better news, Dorian Gray is out next week with the smexy Sirius Black Bin Bons (just listen to Ben Barnes pronouncing his name, you'll get the joke very quickly).

Onto music now, and Robbie is being very flippant and making lots of comments on Jonathan Ross that heavily implies a Take That reunion. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it will be at the Brits (the Brit Awards - the British equivalent of the Grammys, only with many more talented artists). He is, after all, getting a lifetime achievement award there at the next coming, and I understand the other TT boys are up for a nom or three. Whohoo!

Television.
Saw V last night. Awesome.
Have to say I'm enjoying Eastwick too.
Nip/Tuck has lost its mojo.

Photos.
Any photos today? Hmmm, let me see...
My brain is now in Italy. I have not found my Italian books anywhere, so have purchased new obligatory books on this beautiful language, and the obligatory Berlitz cd. Will be saying more than just Buon guiorno and Quanto costa...

But I digress. The day trip on the Seine back in June was so wonderfully summery and hot - so many Parisians were out enjoying the waterfront. I captured these folk enjoying a lazy Tuesday out along the water...

Can't wait to capture such moments from the locals in Italy.

[i]eeyore9990: Garrrr

I had awesome plans to go to bed with hubby and do the snuggly thing and just forget about my current fic for a while. And then the need to write propelled me out of bed (hubby was already asleep, so it's not like I interrupted anything *coughs*). So here I sit.

Like a lump on a log.

Which means, of course, that it's time again for another round of fic bitching! *crowd goes wild*

Character B... oh, Character B. Why must you intimidate me so? Also, what's with the personality disorder you seem to have? Don't you know I want to make you happy in the pants? Cuz I do. I want to make you so happy in the pants that you come back for more (yes, pun is totally intended).

So why, then, aren't you cooperating?

Character A? I'm not sure exactly where you're going with this, but it's unlike you to be reticent. So maybe just cut it out and jump Character B's bones? I realize you're trying to be a better person or whatever, but come ON, man. This fic is due in just over a week and we are at a stand still.

Characters C through infinity? Rock on with your bad selves. I love you all. Seriously.

Me? Please stop with the Britglish in this fic. It's not only not necessary but also... you're doing it wrong!

A whopping 369 words so far today. Which is kinda cool in the fact that any number with 69 in it is obviously shooting for porn, but less cool in the "I still have a lot to write" way.

So come on, self. Characters. We have an hour and a half. Let's get this thing going!

[i]musesfool: it's two and two

In case you missed it, I have a poll up to gauge interest in a possible Dark Angel end of the year fic exchange. I'd need at least ten people willing to play to run the thing, and right now that does not look like it's happening, but I'll leave the poll open until tomorrow afternoon, so if you are interested in such a thing, you should let me know.

Mini-dvd commentary meme seen everywhere:

Pick a paragraph / passage / scene from any story I've written, and comment to this post with that selection [Note: Please include the title/fandom]. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

Just so you know, the older something is, the less I remember, and I would prefer not to talk about the XMM or SV stuff.
