[i]irana: On BDSM, Part II

We've discussed what SSC, RACK and consent means. Today we're going to look at some other terms – negotiation, limits, contracts - break those down, and hopefully provide those reading with a better understanding of what those terms mean. Let's talk about Negotiation first. )

[i]kennahijja: Highlander Fic Search (yeah, fat chance...)

Ok, this is weird, old, and not a little twisted but I just rewatched scenes from the 'Horsemen' episodes on Youtube...

You out there who once dabbled in 'Highlander' - ever come across fic pairing Kronos and Richie? I've been wanting this ever since Kronos turned up, and there seems to be *nothing* out there I can find, and it's just a crime against darkfic!

Halp!?!

Sigh. My cake didn't rise, and worse, it tastes like failure.

*crosses that recipe off the list*

On the upside, there was reviewing of yuletide source. Now I just have to figure out what I'm writing.

[i]snegurochka_lee: Lockdown, and Lee finally figures out what LDWS stands for...

Urf. I am in writing lockdown until [info]smutty_claus is done, because *draws hearts around story* but also *stabs it with a fork* a;slkjdfs.

But! Had to reappear for a moment to point out that the first-ever Harry/Scorpius Last Drabble Writer Standing competition at [info]harryscorp100 just started. Yes, I have a soft spot for Harry/Scorpius, although no, I'm not in this competition. Just an interested observer. I only recently figured out a.) what LDWS things are, and b.) how they work, so now I want everyone to do them. :)

So, there are 15 writers in it, and each week they get a prompt, and then they write a drabble (defined here as under 500 words or so, I think or, in any case, not 100 on the dot), send it in, and they are all posted anonymously mid-week. Then readers vote for their favourite, reveals happen on Sunday, and a new weekly round begins, with one less person. Fifteen weeks later, we have a winner. Fun, yes?

Maybe I'm just addicted to reality TV shows wherein voting for favourites occurs? Hm.

Anyway, I point out this week's Week One drabbles because they are all super good. The first prompt was 'Age Disparity,' so all entries have something to do with the age difference. Scorpius is underage in some but not in others, so read the warnings and go with whatever floats your boat. I had a great time over coffee the other day reading through them and trying to decide on a favourite. No, I'm not always in favour of competitive stuff in fandom, and yeah, it sucks that someone has to be eliminated every week, but hopefully all the participants are okay with that and know not to take it personally. Anyway, if it appeals to you, go have a read through over there and vote!

In other news, I just read through a super awesome story for [info]snupin_santa this morning that made me fall in love with Snupin all over again. Swoon!

*runs back to [info]smutty_claus* Hope all your holiday fest stuff is in and you lot are having a relaxing weekend!

[i]awaywithpixies: Merlin

I watch lots of shows during the week, and Merlin is one of those. I have always loved anything remotely Arthurian in context, and this show has been great since day 1. Season one took a while to get off the ground, and after just watching the ep that aired just now in the UK, I think it's finally hit its stride.

I know there are those who love slashing the main characters, or shipping, but I love little bits and pieces of it everywhere. But this episode was probably the best that I've seen in two seasons. Placing in context the relationship between Merlin, and the Lady of the Lake was just done so beautifully, and Colin's acting was superb. I literally cried in the end. The ongoing gags in this episode were funny (the dress) and I lolled at that as well.

But last night on the Children in Need special, Merlin did their little 'skit' for the charity, and it had me lolling in the aisles for hours. So much so I was showing anyone and everyone.

[i]musesfool: be at least three days til she knows her heart has been broken

Okay, this is the plan for hiatus:

1. [info - livejournal.com] yuletide
2. Broken Toys
3. the 5.10 story I'm working on right now (I keep having to stop because it's making me cry! That never happens to me when I write!)
4. The Dean-Michael dream story
5. Drought Conditions (casefile)
6. Nothing but Winter in my Cup (casefile)
7. the Dean/Sam/Pam story

That's quite a lot, considering November and December are usually the time of my fannish malaise.

This song is not helping with the crying, iTunes!

Now, though, I think I am going to bake a cake.

I barely feel like rehashing this one, but it did have some lovely moments, and I would feel weird not doing a reax post. SO. MY THOUGHTS ARE THESE (um, upon reading them over, they may or may not make sense):

[i]pre_raphaelite1: FIC: "Full" (Remus/Sirius, NC-17)

And because I never posted to my personal journal, here's my Daily_Deviant fic from September!

Title: "Full"
Pairing: Remus/Sirius
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Enemas, much swearing and insulting of vicars
Summary: “Because I want to,” Remus informed him in a low pitch that sent gooseflesh rippling up Sirius' spine. “Because I want to see just how much you can fucking take before you start begging me to stop. Because I want you to feel just what it would be like to have every inch of your arse straining and stretched until it's indistinguishable from your intestines and all you know and all you are is full.”
Author's notes: I think I need to change my username to "nooneelse" so when these particular themes come up everyone will know that "nooneelse" will right them. :P Written for iJ's alisanne after I promised her something fluffy in the wake of July's necro fic!

[i]pre_raphaelite1: FIC: "Alternatives" (Morfin Gaunt/Quirrell, Voldie/Quirrell, NC-17)

November's Daily_Deviant fic... I wrote the alternate pairing this month. For some reason no one wants to write Morfin Gaunt. :P

Title: "Alternatives"
Characters: Morfin Gaunt/Quirrell, Voldemort/Quirrell
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Non-con, Morfin Gaunt, Squickiness, slight crackiness? (Did you see the pairings?) castrati
Word Count: 1520
Summary: Quirrell lays in his bed at night, fidgeting. He used to sleep well, find comfort on his back in the softness of down blankets and the firmness of a good pillow and equally supportive mattress. But now he lays awake for hours, unable to deal with his own bony elbow poking into the side he has to lay on or to adjust to the soft pillow he must use now.
Author's notes: I'm sorry. Where was I supposed to go with this pairing? I mean, really? I think writing Morfin Gaunt in a fluffy romance would be far more terrifying than having him in a darker fic. Right? Right? :P

[i]awaywithpixies: POTD - Paris

The Musee D'Orsay in Paris is a converted train station. It's beautiful. it's where all the impressionists have their paintings. IMHO, it's the best of the Paris Museums, as the Impressionists were all that I wanted to see.

Took this one later in the afternoon, on our second trip past it.

I love the outside of the building as much as the inside.

Of course, these two were taken earlier in the day, when I was inside...

Now of course, this clock is just stunning, and when you're up in the hall that displays all the impressionists you get to see the back side of the clock.

Of course when you look out, you see something spectacular through the view...

[i]reddwarfer: You're Just Too Funky For Me...

So, today Trina wanted me to share with her some of my favourite music videos from when I was a kid. The first one I thought of was Too Funky by George Michael.

I played it for her and she asked me, then, why it was a favourite. I sat there awkwardly for a while, not quite able to explain it. My favourite was the model in the metal bikini suit thing. Embedding was disallowed. I still love this vid. After, I showed her Jeremy and Black Hole Sun. Then I showed her Schism, which she thought was cool, and Thunderkiss '65, which led to a very short viewing of Beavis and Butthead so she could understand the context in which I first saw the video.

Listening to Too Funky also makes me want to write porn again.

What are your favourite music vids?

Also, I snuck over to fanficrants today for one reason and another and was struck but the plethora of crap. I mean...most of my rants consist of "use the right word, plz" and "get a beta before I spork my eyes" and stuff like that. Though, I don't usually make posts about it. I just think it. REALLY HARD. I get rants about subtle bigotry/misogyny/etc within fics, but for other things, sometimes I just want to say stfu and read something else. I mean...isn't this what google chat is for? Bitching to your friends about stupid shit you've read but are too polite to comment on, and in that fashion, in public?

[i]musesfool: across the fields of mourning, lights in the distance

Oy, this day. Or, well, yesterday, at this point. The less said, the better. And did I mention I got my period this morning? oy.

I left work late - I think I was the only person left in the office - and all I wanted was to come home and watch this week's Friday Night Lights. But the file I dl'd wouldn't play on WMP or QT or even VLC. I updated DivX and it wouldn't play on that either. So I deleted it, rebooted, and redownloaded, and it worked.

I thought I might actually get through the episode without crying. I don't know why I thought that. I don't think it's ever happened, and it certainly did not happen tonight.

[i]irana: On BDSM, Part I

So, [info]the_minx_17 and I have been talking for the last couple days about making a specific post. Minx put hers up already – you can find it here - and now I'm putting up mine.

Hello, my name is Irana, and I am a Top. This means that within the BDSM community/The Scene/Lifestyle, I am what many refer to as a Dominant.

This post will hopefully not only explain why I read very little BDSM, D/s, lifestyle themed fics, but also will allow those of you reading who are not a part of the community some knowledge. Because really, some of the crap out there being called kink is shit. Please, for the love of life, seriously, go fuck up someone else's kink, okay? Leave mine alone. Some of those fics have no actually basis in reality, they do not acknowledge RACK/SSC at all and it drives me batshit insane. What are those two things you ask? Let me explain. )

I have a lot more to say, so I'm going to stop here for a bit. Got questions? Ask. Really. Next topics will be limits, total power exchange and negotiation.

[i]awaywithpixies: VOTD

Video of the day.
No picture, just moving ones. Will get back to POTD after this crazy arse busy week is over.

I've always loved Lily Allen, but she wavers so much between Trashy and Classy, I don't know any more. But this was from the Children in Need concert aired just today/last night.

I remember when she posted up on myspace the first demo of 'who'd have known', and how it was a rip off of a well known song. Shine, for anyone who is keeping up with this...

I squeed when it got to the middle of this video, but then I squee at lots of things these days.

Right, off to do 40% assessment in a very short period of time.

Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Torture, Non-con
Themes/kinks chosen: symphorophilia: arousal by watching or causing destruction and/or death
Word Count: 1015
